The Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research’s annual ladies luncheon will have a couple of special prizes on offer tomorrow.

The Liverpool Catholic Club Quilters have donated two quilts the group has been working on to help with the institute’s fundraising efforts.

Secretary Ann-Maree Riley said the two quilts had different origins.

“One started as a kit that sat on my shelf for a couple of years,” she said.

“It was all cut and ready to put together. Anyone who wanted to participate took a bit home and we joined them all together.

“The other was a donation of an unfinished item and needed a lot of embroidery to do it.

“It was passed around, particularly amongst the older ladies who like to sit and have the company.”

The Bradbury woman said it was nice to see the quilting community brought together on a joint project.

“It was really nice to do something altogether that we all contributed to,” she said.

“We took the two quilts to Picton Patchwork and had them professionally quilted.

“We’ve had a little bit to do with the Ingham Institute and hope they’ll do well from it.”
