The Ingham Institute’s Making the Connection Event aims to encourage students in Years 9 – 12 from schools within the South Western Sydney Local Health District, to explore the possibilities of pursing higher education in medicine, nursing, allied health and medical research.
In collaboration with local councils, Liverpool Hospital and UNSW South Western Sydney Clinical School, the event is designed to educate students of the multiple educational pathways available to enter the field of health, science and medicine as possible career options.
The one-day event includes:
Panel discussion featuring representatives from different areas of health and medical research
- A Q&A forum between students and employees (doctor, nurse, administrator, researcher) where students can hear first-hand educational experiences and pathways taken to achieve career options
Career Pathways Mini Exhibition
- Students can meet with representatives from tertiary institutions (UNSW, WSU, UOW and TAFE NSW) and smaller organisations for a one-on-one discussion on information about related courses
Guided site tours and interactive activities
- Students can visit medical research facilities at the Ingham Institute, Liverpool Hospital and UNSW Clinical School and explore how technology advancements have already improved better healthcare and continue to create new innovative approaches
