Our research facilities are primarily housed within a five-storey building opposite Liverpool Hospital and a cluster of nearby buildings within the hospital precinct.
We also work at other research facilities throughout the South Western Sydney Local Health District, operating in partnership with major hospitals and community health centres across the district.
Our research building at Liverpool is home to both wet and dry research teams, a Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre, located within Liverpool Hospital, and a research “bunker” housing our magnetic resonance imaging technology with linear accelerator, known as the Australian MRI-Linac.
Our main research facility accommodates more than 40 research groups that work within five streams:
Our Liverpool building also accommodates our Centre for Oncology Education and Research Translation (CONCERT), which includes a cancer tissue biobank and imaging facilities, and our Clinical Trials Unit.
More than 350 medical researchers and support staff work within research facilities located at Liverpool and at other locations throughout South Western Sydney.
We have a strong community focus. Our research facilities can be visited (by appointment) and opportunities are available to participate in special programs and events.
Throughout the year, we hold public talks, research presentations and tours which members of the community are welcome to attend.
Located within one of Australia’s fastest growing regions, we continue to plan and develop our medical research facilities to keep pace with future health and medical needs of our region.
We are working with our partners to ensure that we have the research facilities and services needed – both at Liverpool and at other hospitals and health centres within our region – to meet our community’s needs, as it continues to grow and evolve.
