The University of Sydney research conducted in the Radiation Physics Laboratory will focus on real-time imaging and treatment adaptation for the MRI-Linac project.

This involves several steps:

  • fast pulse sequence development and k-space sampling strategies to acquire spatio-temporal anatomic information in near real-time
  • fast reconstruction of the acquired data
  • near-real-time deformable registration of the reconstructed images
  • system latency quantification and development of multi-dimensional prediction strategies
  • real-time adaptation of the radiation beam to the changing anatomy using the dynamic multileaf collimator.
  • An additional project will involve the development and investigation of a rotating couch.
