Professor Sarah Lewis

Professor Sarah Lewis is a senior executive team member at Western Sydney University and currently the inaugural Executive Dean, Faculty of Health and Provost of the Campbelltown Campus.
Previously, Sarah was the Dean, School of Heath Sciences, WSU and the Associate Dean Research Performance and Head of Medical Imaging Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney (USYD).

A passionate registered Diagnostic Radiographer and educator, her work has contributed significantly to the advancement of national health workforce systems, particularly in areas of accreditation and registration standards.  Sarah has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including public and private medical imaging in NSW and Queensland.  Professor Lewis has a wealth of experience in developing Faculty and University research structures and systems to uplift performance, as well as health precinct and place-making initiatives.  

 As an internationally renowned researcher in medical imaging and breast cancer, Sarah’s focus is on accelerating health equity through Western’s impactful research with partnerships that will create stronger local communities and global reputation and driving strategic collaborations at scale.
Sarah has published over 180 peer reviewed manuscripts and attracted over $18 million AUD in competitive and philanthropic funding for her research through the NHMRC, MRFF, National Breast Cancer Foundation, NSW Health, Commonwealth Department of Health, and other areas.

A first in family to complete University and an enthusiastic participant in ‘all things sport’, Sarah is deeply committed to excellence in supporting students, the higher education and health workforce to foster authentic industry partnerships.   She is a breast cancer survivor and deeply committed co-designer of research.
