Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research is a one institute spread across multiple locations in South Western Sydney:
It’s an integrated network composed of three key parts:
This network creates an efficient and effective structure of synergies in research collaboration, education and clinical application. The model ensures relevance and impact. Our research promotes direct health outcomes for the community.
Each location is based alongside a hospital to meet the needs of patients. Many of our researchers are practising clinicians.
With one medical research institute across multiple sites of research excellence, each centre focuses on specific research aligned with clinical priorities for South Western Sydney.
Our discipline-specific Research Centres are guided by South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) clinical service plans. Each location has a focused portfolio of Research Centres that promotes excellence and delivers results with impact.
Located next to Liverpool Hospital — a principal tertiary and teaching hospital — this site facilitates research, education and clinical practice.
This integrated health, research and education facility located on the Campbelltown Hospital campus brings together scientific and industry collaboration.
Our third Institute location is part of our future growth plans. It will be integrated into the new Bankstown Hospital.
The second major element of our research network is Clinical Academic Units. They deliver high- quality clinical care coupled with research and teaching. As with the Centres, each of these is aligned with the research strategy and clinical service plans of the District:
The third critical part of our research network is Cross-cutting platforms. They foster collaboration and extend impact while also undertaking research in their own right. A number of Cross-cutting Platforms complement the Institute’s Research Centres and Clinical Academic Units:
I think we should deliver outstanding cancer care for everybody irrespective of their postcode, gender or cultural background.
