This new flagship hub is a centre of innovation where people, ideas and passion come together to make healthcare fairer and more accessible for everyone. It is Ingham Institute’s “automation imaginarium” – a space where world-class clinical research, teaching, and training unite to explore how automation and robotics can change lives.
The launch was attended by members of the Perich family, who have long supported our region, along with Minister for Medical Research The Hon. David Harris MP and Dr Glen Schlaphoff, the Centre’s Clinical Lead. Together, they shared a powerful vision:
- To ensure healthcare innovation is ethical, inclusive and accessible.
- To create solutions that deliver impact locally, nationally and globally.
Empowered by the Perich family’s generosity, Professor Les Bokey’s long-standing vision for South Western Sydney, and Dr Schlaphoff’s leadership, the Centre is set to become a beacon of what’s possible when community and innovation come together.
The Perich Centre provides a physical space where researchers, clinicians, students and industry partners collaborate side by side – building and testing AI and other technological solutions that can significantly improve health outcomes for the local population and which can be scaled for national and global impact. From robotics in surgery to smart technologies that support patients at home, the focus is always on people and communities.
This launch is not just about technology, it’s about creating a future where every person has access to the best care, regardless of who they are or where they live. South Western Sydney has always been a place of growth, resilience and innovation. With the Perich Centre, our region takes another step forward as a leader in shaping the future of healthcare.
