Nursing and Midwifery Research

South Western Sydney Nursing and Midwifery Research Alliance (SWS NMRA) is a collaborative initiative between South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD), Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research(IIAMR) and affiliated universities to promote and generate research and professional development within the nursing and midwifery discipline.

The purpose of the SWS NMRA is to undertake research, and to facilitate and support collaboration between nurses, midwives and academics that will generate research relevant to the clinical, health promotion and health education role of nurses and midwives, and provide a basis for evidence-based practice.

“Research means that you don’t know but are willing to find out”

Charles F. Kettering (1876-1958) American engineer, inventor of internal combustion engine electric starter.

The team work closely with the clinical facilities across SWSLHD and most projects are in the collaboration with clinicians and universities.
The team is also actively involved in the development and evaluation of evidence-based guidelines. They are currently working with partners to:

  • Transfer knowledge generated in to practice
