We are doubly excited about this trans-Tasman, multi-centre trial, which seeks to dramatically reduce disposable barrier gown usage in ICUs without affecting multi-resistant bacteria colonisation rates.

ICUs are carbon hotspots, with intensive procurement, energy use and pollution generation. Non-degradable PPE waste in particular has significantly increased throughout the pandemic.

Under the leadership of Deepak Bhonagiri, one of the trial’s four target ICUs is Campbelltown Hospital – the planned location of a new Ingham Institute site.
