Congratulations to Dr Tim Churches, Dr Georgina Kennedy, Professor Geoff Delaney and Professor Ian Harris on their recent Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) Research Data Infrastructure grant success.

NextCR is a project led by Prof Louisa Jorm at the Centre for Big Data Research in Health (CBDRH) in the UNSW Faculty of Medicine & Health. It will develop a next-generation software and governance framework for establishing and operating extremely secure, highly-automated clinical quality registries (CQRs) using cloud computing facilities. This will allow organisations such as universities, research institutes, and public and/or private health providers to set up CQRs more affordably and, with greater security and privacy protection than previously possible.

A significant proportion of the NextCR project R&D will take place at the Ingham Institute, building on existing and ongoing work undertaken at the Institute for the CaVa project around cancer clinical research data.

The project is of national and international significance, accelerating the creation of vital real-world evidence about clinical practice from the rich clinical data now being collected electronically by healthcare providers.
