Orthopaedics Unit

The Orthopaedic Research Group based at Liverpool Hospital is headed by Professor Ian Harris and Doctor Justine Naylor, and is closely linked to the South Western Sydney Clinical School of UNSW Australia, and the combined Orthopaedic Department of Liverpool and Fairfield Hospitals.

The unit performs clinical research in the fields of surgical outcomes research, patient satisfaction, trauma, and aspects of total joint replacement surgery, as well as performing systematic reviews and randomised clinical trials.

The research group has produced many publications and presentations in a wide variety of journals and conferences. The team includes secretarial, nursing and allied health support staff and also includes several post graduate and undergraduate researchers.

In addition, the group is also involved in public health activities through the Agency for Clinical Innovation and the Clinical Excellence Commission. They also participate in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching through UNSW Australia and the University of Western Sydney, the AO Foundation, the Australian Orthopaedic Association and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
