About Us

The Ingham Institute is located within the fastest growing and most diverse population of Sydney. This vibrant community provides exceptional opportunities to take experimental laboratory research through to clinical trials and on into treatment, public health and prevention.

Our focus is on linking research to practical health outcomes that directly affect the communities we serve. These public health outcomes are, in turn, applicable across broader populations and have helped establish our international reputation. An example of this is unique MRI-Linac technology currently under construction at a cost of $9m. It will more accurately locate tumours during a treatment session in real time, with a potential of vastly improving patient cancer treatment outcomes. This experimental system is one of only two in the world and will place Liverpool at the centre of world's best practice for radiation treatment.

The Ingham's unique research approach is based upon this practical inter-action between desk and laboratory, clinical practice, and public health policy. To help facilitate this collaborative approach the Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre will provide state of the art training for clinicians, nurses, allied health professionals and students.

To date significant breakthroughs have been achieved through the work undertaken in our seven research streams including:

An example of this is unique MRI-Linac cancer treatment technology currently under development and construction at the Ingham Institute as part of the Australian MRI-Linac Program at the Ingham Institute at a cost of more than $10 million.

It will have the ability to more accurately locate tumours during a treatment session in real time, with the potential of vastly improving patient cancer treatment outcomes. This new technology is one of only three currently under development in the world and will place Liverpool at the centre of world's best practice for radiation treatment.
