The Ingham Institute will partner with the South Western Sydney Local Health District for the 9th annual Research and Teaching Showcase. An important event on the health calendar, this year’s event is scheduled for Friday 28 November 2014 at the Thomas and Rachel Moore Education Centre at Liverpool Hospital.

The event is the venue for our doctors, nurses, researchers and students to showcase their research efforts by presenting current research studies, key findings and deliver the implications of such research programs in order for the general public to learn about new methods, techniques and developments in basic science, medicine, health care, population and community health. In addition, the event will celebrate the efforts of the research community in the South West.

Nursing and Midwifery research is the key theme of the 2014 event, a reflection of the growing research portfolio from our nursing discipline. Professor Sandy Middleton from the Nursing Research Institute will be attending as one of the many keynote speakers to discuss the Quality in Acute Stroke Care (QASC) Trial and how the findings from the trial are being translated into our hospital settings.

The Showcase will also feature the new Three Minute Thesis Competition, a skills development activity that challenges Research Higher Degree Students to explain their research project to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes.

A large selection of health and medical abstracts in both oral and poster formats will be featured, showcasing medical breakthroughs of the Institute’s research teams as well as better treatment options on a number of critical disease areas  such as Cardiovascular Disease, Cancer, Mental Health and Population Health studies.
